Study For Blood Moon
Preliminary drawing is usually done to get to know the models facial features, get some resolution on design and composition. I usually work on these along the sittings and actual portrait painting compare to photos taken and live apearances so it becomes not only a blue print of a final portrait but as work of art in its own right and by no means a quick sketch as I put some time into it to develop to my level of esthetics.
This piece won Best in Show Prize by Portrait Society of Canada 2021
