Silent Cry, is an allegorical portrait. Often, we spend time with people who appear happy and yet we do not know the truth of what emotions are inside them. Many years ago, a happy, successful, beautiful and inspiring colleague took her life unexpectedly. We tried to rationalize and understand what the reason could be as we struggled with our own emotions and failures. The pain she was in only became understood when we came to know her poetry. Her silent secret poetry. For years it was very difficult to bring this subject out in a painting. To try and capture the mask of her facial expression while also capturing the pain she held in her heart. The pain she held in her Silent Cries.
